May 1, 2023 —The Global Reporting Centre at the University of British Columbia has published a study of reputational threats faced by journalists around the world. GRC researchers surveyed 645 journalists, in six languages, across 87 countries.
The report finds that reputational attacks are prevalent globally and journalists who face the most abuse online are also likely to face violence offline. The study reports that journalists from marginalized racial, ethnic, or religious minorities are more susceptible to reputational attacks.
