Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right which is taken away far too often.  When writers are silenced, democracy is weakened and we all lose.   I support PEN Canada because it fights the good fight for writers everywhere.
– Margaret MacMillan, author of Paris 1919: Six Months that Changed the World and PEN Patron

PEN patrons are members of a vibrant circle that supports and promotes the work of PEN Canada. They are indispensable allies in PEN’s work on behalf of free expression, persecuted writers, and literary culture worldwide.

In thanks for their invaluable support, PEN patrons are offered the opportunity to participate in conversations with the world’s most celebrated writers in exclusive and intimate settings.

Depending on the category, PEN Patron benefits include:
Reserved seats at the opening night of the International Festival of Authors
The IFOA is an annual gathering of the world’s greatest writers. The opening night is among the most recognized and celebrated events in Toronto, drawing the city’s most literate and lively audiences. This evening provides an opportunity for sponsors and patrons to both enjoy the company of brilliant thinkers, and support the essential work of PEN.

Reserved seats at PEN’s Ideas in Dialogue Series
Ideas in Dialogue is a series that offers insight into the most important political issues of the day and how they intersect with freedom of expression.
