The 150th anniversary of Canada’s confederation presents an opportunity to celebrate and reflect. PEN Canada and the Glorious & Free Foundation invite Jesse Wente, Desmond Cole, Rachel Giese, and moderator Jesse Brown to discuss the values and freedoms considered foundational to our country.

His writing has appeared in the Toronto Star, Toronto Life, Walrus, NOW Magazine, Ethnic Aisle, Torontoist, Buzzfeed, and the Ottawa Citizen, and he hosts a weekly radio program every Sunday on Newstalk 1010. |

Rachel Giese is an award-winning Toronto journalist. She is editor-at-large at Chatelaine and a regular contributor to CBC Radio. Her first book, about masculinity and modern boyhood, is coming out in 2018. |

Jesse Brown is a journalist and publisher who runs the CANADALAND media network. He is a winner of the Hillman prize for investigative reporting and is the co-author of The CANADALAND Guide to Canada. |
