Volunteer

There are many ways you can volunteer at PEN Canada – whether it’s assisting at one of our special events, accompanying a writer to an immigration hearing, meeting for informal coffee chats with members of the Writers in Exile program to practice their English, or interning at the PEN office.

To become a volunteer, please email queries@pencanada.ca indicating your interest and availability.

Event Volunteer

Event volunteers are called upon to lend a hand on the day of an event. Duties may include handing out programs, ushering, and managing a guest list.

Supporter for Writers in Exile

Duties may include accompanying writers to hearings at the Immigration and Refugee Board, meeting for a coffee to chat or practice English, or helping with an event, workshop or reading.

Intern

Interns work in a hybrid environment alongside PEN staff on either a full or part-time basis (9 am – 5 pm) depending on the project needs, desk space, and your availability. Please indicate how many hours you can commit.
