Writers in Peril
We work to ensure that writers around the world can speak and write freely, and dissent peacefully without being censored.
In our history, PEN Canada has helped to free more than 100 imprisoned writers, including several serving life sentences or facing execution.
Writers in Exile
PEN Canada has helped scores of exiled writers start new lives in Canada.
Our program for writers living in exile offers workshops, events, and social gatherings, as well as residencies and scholarships at Canadian colleges and universities.
