2026 AGM + Summer Social & Book Talk with Kim Echlin (4)

Members, writers, journalists, and friends of PEN – join us for our Annual General Meeting, followed by a summer social for writers, featuring a conversation with Kim Echlin, Canadian novelist and PEN International board member.

This back-to-back event begins with the AGM, which is only open to members of PEN Canada. The summer social that follows is open to all writers, supporters and members of the public. Both events are free to attend, and separate registration is required.

About the Annual General Meeting

This year, our AGM will be hybrid – with a Zoom link available to any member or supporter across the country, and 20 in-person seats in Toronto available to PEN members only.

At this meeting members will be the first to see our annual report, participate in the elections for new board members, and hear a reading from Bahamian-Canadian poet Georgio Russell, one of two winners of last year’s New Voices Award (alongside Anna Sokolova).

All PEN Canada members are encouraged to attend the AGM, and an RSVP is required. To RSVP, fill out the form below by Thursday June 4.

A full AGM package (agenda, minutes from last year’s AGM, our 2025/2026 Annual Report, and Zoom link) will be sent out the week of June 11 to members who have RSVP’d.

AGM Voting + Keeping your membership current

Your membership must be current in order for you to have voting rights at the meeting; outstanding membership dues can be paid on our website. If you cannot attend but would like to vote by proxy, please reach out to Theresa Johnson to obtain the Instrument of Proxy and return it by

Summer Social & Book Talk with Kim Echlin

After our AGM, in the spirit of community and dialogue, PEN Canada is hosting its first Summer Social, open to all writers and supporters.

This is a chance to socialize, eat, drink, and hear from PEN International board member and Canadian novelist, Kim Echlin, who has recently published Tell Others: Storytelling for a World in Turmoil (Penguin Random House Canada).

Refreshments will be provided, and books will be available for purchase. Author proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to PEN International and PEN Canada.
