PEN Canada celebrates literature, defends freedom of expression and aids writers in peril.
On October 17, 2012, as part of Non-Speak Week, PEN Canada partnered with the Canadian Science Writers Association to host Sci-lenced, a panel discussion on the prevention of media access to government scientists. The venue was intimate, the crowd was thoughtful, and the conversation was engaging.
To better understand our age, and to be better positioned to offer the kinds of critiques and observations that PEN Canada should make, we’ll be examining freedom of expression via seven urgent issues, including digital freedom, access to information, libel, the chill on charities, and the silencing of scientists.
