The Shoe Project is back at work in Toronto, after sold-out performances in Vancouver and Calgary. Get ready for ten new stories of arrival — and pairs of shoes. Now in its ninth year, The Shoe Project was created by novelist Katherine Govier and incubated at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto. In partnership with PEN Canada, The Shoe Project presents Taking Steps.
Performers from South Sudan, Turkey, Taiwan, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Russia, Syria, and India have been coached in writing and speaking by Katherine Govier and Leah Cherniak and directed by Kate Lynch.
You’ll be inspired as this diverse group of women weave powerful stories of why they left their homes to search for a better life. Unite in pride and meet newcomers by walking in their shoes. Choose our 2 pm or 4:30 pm performance.
