We are pleased to present the video highlights and full audio from Wade Davis and John Vaillant’s conversation on a writer’s role in a fast-changing world from our Spring Ideas in Dialogue event.

Still Points in a Turning World

On May 22, 2014, PEN Canada hosted its Spring Ideas in Dialogue event, Still Points in a Turning World at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Anthropologist Wade Davis and author John Vaillant sat down with Karen Connelly to discuss the ethics of storytelling, reportage and bearing witness in the twenty-first century. The night’s captivating conversation was a testament to their skills as storytellers. Davis and Vaillant discussed their roles as writers, but above all considered the question: What does it mean to be human and alive?

We are pleased to present the full audio recording, please join us at the next Ideas in Dialogue in the fall.
