PEN Canada Security Training Workshop in Guatemala

As part of an ongoing focus on freedom of expression in Central America, PEN Canada held a 3-day security training workshop for Indigenous women journalists in Guatemala in December, 2017in partnership with PEN International, The Human Rights Defenders Project, and Unidad de Protección a Defensoras y Defensores de Derechos Humanos Guatemala. The training sought to empower community journalists by teaching them how to manage risk on a daily basis, adapt to specific threats, and devise appropriate counter measures.
