Ray Boisvert was appointed to the critical position of Assistant Director, Intelligence following a series of senior management positions at Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). In this role, he was responsible for shaping the assessment and dissemination functions of security intelligence including counter terrorism and data exploitation activities. Boisvert is currently the President and CEO of I-Sec Integrated Strategies, which provides strategic partnerships and consultation on advanced surveillance and detection systems and data solutions for public and private sector clients.

Dr. Michael Geist is a law professor at the University of Ottawa where he holds the Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law. He is a syndicated columnist on technology law issues with his regular column appearing in the Toronto Star and the Ottawa Citizen. Dr. Geist is the editor of several copyright books including The Copyright Pentalogy: How the Supreme Court of Canada Shook the Foundations of Canadian Copyright Law (2013, University of Ottawa Press), From “Radical Extremism” to “Balanced Copyright”: Canadian Copyright and the Digital Agenda (2010, Irwin Law) and In the Public Interest: The Future of Canadian Copyright Law (2005, Irwin Law). He is also the editor of several monthly technology law publications, and the author of a popular blog on Internet and intellectual property law issues.

Dr. David Lyon is the Principal Investigator of The New Transparency Project and Director of the Surveillance Studies Centre. He is also Queen’s Research Chair in Surveillance Studies and Professor of Sociology and of Law. He held a Killam Research Fellowship 2008-2010 for work on the globalization of ID systems.

Micheal Vonn is a lawyer and the Policy Director of the BC Civil Liberties Association. She has been an adjunct professor in the faculty of law at the University of British Columbia and an adjunct professor at the UBC School of Library, Archival and Information Studies, where she has taught civil liberties, information ethics and intellectual freedom. Vonn is a regular guest instructor for UBC’s College of Health Disciplines Interdisciplinary Elective in HIV/AIDS care and a frequent speaker and media commentator on a variety of civil liberties topics including privacy, national security, policing, surveillance and free speech. She is an advisory board member of Privacy International.

Brent Bambury has always had a deep connection to radio and was a teenager when he launched his career at CBC working in Saint John, Halifax and Montreal. His latest venture is Day 6 a Saturday morning program that delivers a surprising take on the week’s big stories. Day 6 was awarded a Silver Medal in the Best Regularly Scheduled Talk Program category of the prestigious New York Festivals International Radio Awards. The program is heard across the country and in many leading markets of the United States through Public Radio International. Bambury thinks radio should be kinetic, full of life, fun, outrageous and thoughtful all at the same time.
